Hi Thea!
Happy day-off-of-school! I hope that you got to go and hang out with Mr. Bowen yesterday, and that it was a lot of fun! I hope that your school day was awesome, and that you got the last little bits of your homework packet finished. If you didn’t do your reading this week, we can work on catching up on what you missed, a little bit at a time. :)
So what do you have planned today? Something fun, I hope? Phoebe has a football game tonight, but, I don’t know that she’s going to be able to go, because she doesn’t have a ride. So, she may end up at home with y’all. I don’t know if you remember, but we went last year, and it was a lot of fun. I’ll skip it this year, if Phoebe can’t get a ride there, tho.
So, about the song of the day, today. It’s less the song that I thought you’d think is cool, and more the music video. See, when I was a kid, in the 80s, and all the way up to when I was getting out of high school, a huge part of the music industry was making music videos for songs. I’m sure you’ve heard of MTV? Well, back before the internet was a thing, they had MTV, which was a channel dedicated to just playing music videos, which are essentially little movies, that last the length of a song, that gave the bands and singers a chance to be creative, and showcase their visions for their songs. They still make them nowadays, but, they aren’t anywhere near as popular, or as big of a deal. At the peak of their popularity, artists would get really creative and talented directors to shoot their videos. There was a man named Spike Jonze, who worked with just about every popular music artist at the time, and made tons of videos. Almost ALL of them were really inventive and fun. Annnnyway, this particular song/video is by an Icelandic singer named Björk. She became really well known when she sang for a band called The Sugarcubes, with a very unique voice. So, this video/song seemed to me to be something you’d really like. It was long before they had fancy camera equipment and really good digital effects. I’m linking the video here, so you can watch it. I hope you like it. I miss you a whole, whole bunch, and can’t wait to see you Sunday!
Love,
-Dad
